A Sculptural, Light-Filled Pavilion
An attractive sheltered space for pedestrians to enjoy the Vancouver Art Gallery’s plaza, this pavilion makes use of soffit to create a breathtaking giant exterior light fixture. We started with a custom painted perforated aluminum panel in a triangular corrugation and then added an integral shelf for an acrylic layer, producing dramatically diffused light from the soffit. When you step back from the structure at night, it looks like a giant lantern, playfully but elegantly lighting up this popular downtown gathering spot.
